Eine Galaxie ist eine durch Gravitation gebundene große Ansammlung von Sternen, Planeten-
systemen, Gasnebeln und sonstigen stellaren Objekten. Die Bezeichnung stammt aus dem
Altgriechischen und geht auf eine antike Sage zurück, wonach es sich dabei um die verspritzte
Milch der Göttin Hera handelt, als diese Herakles stillen wollte.
Galaxien variieren stark in Aussehen (Morphologie), Größe und Zusammensetzung.
Unsere Milchstraße gehört zu den größeren Galaxien und besitzt etwa 300 Milliarden Sterne
bei einem Durchmesser von etwa 100.000 Lichtjahren. Neben den Sternen besteht
eine Galaxie auch aus Gas, kosmischem Staub und vermutlich dunkler Materie.
NGC 241015-271118-080619 ist eine Galaxie im Sternbild Jungfrau, die von mir entdeckt wurde und seit 2018 im New General Catalogue verzeichnet ist.
Der New General Catalogue of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars (NGC) ist ein Katalog von
galaktischen Nebeln, Sternhaufen und Galaxien. Er wurde in den 1880er-Jahren zusammengestellt
und 1888 von Johan Ludvig Emil Dreyer veröffentlicht; vor allem nach Beobachtungen von Sir Wilhelm Herschel.

and goes back to an ancient legend, according to which it was the splashed milk of the goddess Hera when she tried to nurse Heracles. Galaxies vary greatly in appearance (morphology), size and
composition. Our Milky Way is one of the larger galaxies and has about 300 billion stars with a diameter of about 100,000 light years. In addition to stars a galaxy also consists of gas, cosmic
dust and presumably dark matter.
NGC 241015-271118-080619 is a galaxy in the constellation Virgo, discovered by me an listed since 2018 in the New General Catalogue.
